YAWANAWA RETREAT ANNOUNCEMENT


WE ARE HONOURED TO WELCOME OUR YAWANAWA FAMILY FROM THE SACRED VILLAGE FOR THE SECOND TIME AT THE SHORES OF LAKE ATITLAN.

very revered spiritual leaders and healers of their tribe, all of the yawanawa coming to visit us have recently come out of their one year diet, to expand their spiritual connection in their tradition and medicines.

this is a very special honour.


Chief Nixiwaka & putanny, who leads the feminine empowerment movement of the yawanawa people together with her sister hushahu will be visiting us together with her daughters nawashahu, mukashahu and her son mukaveine (the little chief that is being prepared to lead his village). they are accompanied by peû master of medicine preparation who has gone through 5 years of consecutive diet in deep study.


we will have the honour to experience these peoples medicines in traditional ceremonies, their music, chants and dances as an integral part of their culture, storytelling, their traditional body painting will be offered to each participant for protection and guidance throughout our works.

medicines shared include: uní (sacred vine), rumê (tobacco snuff), sananga (eye drops), jenipapo (natural black ink for body painting)

further activities: musical study of traditional chants and songs, learning about traditional dance, listening to their cosmovision and the storytelling of their medicines and culture, temazcal (sauna) and herbal bath by our mayan elders, free time for nature immersion by the lake
