traditional wixarika ceremony | January 17

we will gather in this traditional ceremony around the fire all night long. in this special ceremonial weaving the marakame will guide us through a ritual in which they invoke the spirit of kauyumari, the blue deer, that is the spirit that guides them in the connection with the medicine of the hikuri.

throughout the night the marakame will offer 5 songs at 5 different times in alignment with the position of the sun in the sky. those are crucial moments for all of us to be present and attentive to receive these potent prayers.

in between those 5 poignant moment of ceremony the participants will have their space and opportunity to pray and express themselves through prayer and song with our grandfather fire.

there will be individual cleansing available by the marakame, which will be a separate donation from the night of prayer.
